Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a heart-shaped 9-inch cake pan with butter and line the bottom with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder until fully combined.
In a separate bowl, cream softened butter and eggs until light and fluffy. Gradually add milk and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with 2 tablespoons of black food gel. Mix until no lumps remain.
Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
In a stand mixer, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract. Add black food gel to achieve desired color.
Let the cake cool completely. Frost the top and sides with the black cocoa frosting using an offset spatula for smooth stripes.
Place the gold leaf and turquoise edible topper on the cake. Gently press the heart-shaped couple silhouette into the frosting.
